Grandville is in Kent County, and in the West-Southwest Region. This community is located on the southwestern city limits of Grand Rapids between Grand Rapids and Holland along Interstate 196 on the banks of the Grand River near the shore of Lake Michigan. Grandville is part of the Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Holland, Michigan metro area.
Grandvilles history can be tracked back to the days when Ottawa and other Indian tribes flurished in this area along the Grand River. The first white settler was Luther Lincoln in 1832. Grandville was organized into a village in 1887 and eventually incorporated into a city in 1933.
Today, Grandville has become a commuter town in effect, with easy access to Grand Rapids via the Ford Freeway. The railroad is still in operation there too, with the main line from Grand Rapids to Chicago going through the town.
