Hazel Park is in Oakland County, and in the Southeast Region. Hazel Park is located on the northern city limits of Detroit. Also situated between Detroit and Royal Oak along Interstate 75 near the Detroit River and Lake St Clair. Hazel Park is part of the Detroit, Michigan metro area. This community started up by a man named Anthony Neusius, when he first purchased 80 acres of land here in 1869. Called Hazel Slump because of the many hazelnut bushes and water, the city was incorporated as Hazel Park in 1942.
