Imlay City is in
Lapeer County, and in the
Southeast Region. This community is located east of
Flint between Flint and
Port Huron along Interstate 69 near Mill Creek. Imlay City is part of the
Detroit, Michigan metro area.
Imlay City was settled in 1862, and ten years later Imlay City was incorporated and given it's name by Charles Palmer, chief engineer of the railroad who bought a section of two hundred and forty acres of land.
