Lapeer is in
Lapeer County (of which it is the county seat), and in the
Southeast Region. This community is located just east of Flint between
Flint and
Port Huron along Interstate 69 near Lake St Clair and
Lake Huron.
Lapeer is part of the Detroit, Michigan metro area.
Lapeer was once a rural farming community but has grown largely due to the employment opportunities in the Flint and Saginaw automotive plants. It has maintained much of its small town atmosphere while providing the convenience of a large number of businesses, churches, retail stores and specialty shops.
