Linden is in Genesee County, and in the Central Region (part of the Flint, Michigan metropolitan area). Linden is located just off of US Hwy 23 west of Fenton. Linden was first established by Consider Warner and Eben Harris who constructed a sawmill here in 1840. It was incorporated as a village in 1871. It was named after the Linden tree, a sort of basswood tree that grew prominently in this region. Now days, this very scenic and historic town features an old mill, (referred to as Linden Mills), complete with a water wheel on Tupper Lake, created by a dam on its creek. The town also features a small downtown shopping area among old Victorian style buildings containing several antique, gift and specialty item shops.
