Powers Michigan

Powers is in Menominee County, and in the Northern Region. This community is located west of Escanaba at the junction of US Hwy 2 and US Hwy 41.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 429, an increase of 5 since 1990.

Powers was first purchased in 1872 by Edward Powers, a civil engineer for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He platted and developed the area, and then opened a post office here in 1877. The town was eventually organized as a village in 1915.

Today, Powers is a small but growing residential community which is economically supported by lumber and tourism.
