Romeo is in
Macomb County, and in the
Southeast Region. This location is north of
Detroit between
Pontiac and
Port Huron along Highway 53 near Clinton River and Lakeville Lake. Romeo is part of the
Detroit, Michigan metro area.
Romeo was originally called the Hoxey Settlement in 1822, and then later Indian Village, it finally was given its name at the suggestion from a Mrs. Laura Taylor, who felt the name should be short, musical, classical and uncommon. Romeo was officially established as a village in 1838.
