Saline is in
Washtenaw County, and in the
Southeast Region (and is part of the
Ann Arbor, Michigan metropolitan area). This community is located on the Saline River, its main street is part of US-12, the historic Chicago-to-Detroit route.
Saline was first settled in 1824 by Orange Risdon, a military surveyor who purchased a 160 acre parcel here. It was officially platted in 1832, named for the salt springs found in the river. The town was incorporated as a village in 1866 and later as a city in 1931.

Saline is supported by different varieties of business and industry, a large automobile plant, and its adjunct location to greater Ann Arbor, just six miles to the north.
