Stanwood is located in
Mecosta County, on US bus route 131 south of
Grand Rapids.
Stanwood is primarily an agricultural community but is also close to many recreational areas. It is also on the White Pine Trail State Park, part of Michigans Rails-to-Trails project. The city park is located just south of town on Main Street and is a good place to access the Trail.
