Troy

Troy is located in Oakland County a northern suburb of Detroit between Pontiac and Detroit on I-75 near Royal Oak.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 79,303, an increase of 6,419 since 1990.

Troy is part of the Detroit, Michigan metro area.

Johnson Niles, the first settler in the area, originally named the village Hastings in 1822. Later it was renamed Troy Corners, then finally Troy because many of the early settlers had come from Troy, New York.
