Waterloo

Waterloo is located in Jackson County just northwest of Jackson between Jackson and Ann Arbor along Highway 52 near Big Portage Lake and South Lake. Waterloo is part of the Jackson, Michigan metro area.

Hiram Putnam became the first settler here in 1834. The township organized in 1836, was first named East Portage. Sawmill owner Patrick Hubbard became the first postmaster on July 24, 1837 and he had the township and its post office renamed after the famous battle.
