Caledonia is located in Houston County (of which it is the county seat). Caledonia is known as the "Wild Turkey Capital" of Minnesota, and offers Beaver Creek Park, only a few miles away, and the Mississippi river nearby. It lies in the Mississippi Bluffs Region, in the far southeast corner of the state, where Hwys 44 and 76 meet.The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,965, an increase of 119 since 1990. Caledonia is part of the La Crosse, Wisconsin-Minnesota metro area.
