This northern Minneapolis suburb is located on Hwy 610. Coon Rapids traces its founding as a separate government entity back to July 30, 1857 when Anoka Township was organized in Anoka County. The City retains these same boundaries with the exclusion of the City of Anoka, which was incorporated as a separate city in the Twin Cities Metro Region.
