Discover an 1820s military outpost which was once situated at the edge of a small settlement, but now stands at the center of Minnesota's Twin Cities metropolitan area. The restored stone fortress features costumed guides that re-enact the frontier lifestyle of 1827, conduct tours, demonstrate crafts, present historical skits, and practice military drill and weapons firings with muskets and cannons. Evening site rental, including interpretive programming, is available for groups. Located at the junction of Highways 5 & 55, just one mile east of the Twin Cities International Airport. Hours of operation vary seasonally, closed November-April.
