International Wolf Center

Search Ely Minnesota

The International Wolf Center supports the survival of wolves around the world by relating its life, its association with other species, and its relationship to humans. The Center opened the doors to its $3 million, 17,000-sq-ft facility featuring 'Wolves and Humans' in June 1993. In 1998, a 3,260-sq-ft, 120-seat wolf-viewing theater, more classrooms, and storage and laboratory space was added.

The Center's flagship facility displays triangular windows designed to relay wolf-ish eyes and ears. Observation windows look into the 1.25-acre wolf enclosure and den site of the Center's 3-resident ambassadorial wolf pack. A variety of custom-designed educational programs for adults, groups, and families are offered at the Ely Center; afternoon, weekend and weeklong visits include howling trips, radio tracking, snowshoe treks, family activities, dogsledding, videos, presentations, flights over wolf country, demonstrations, and hikes.
