In the Twin Cities Metro Region, Maple Grove was heavily wooded with elm, oak, basswood, and maple in large quantities. The scattered groves of maple trees gave Maple Grove its name. Its many lakes were as much of an attraction in 1854 as they are today.It lies two miles east of I-94 at exit 213 in Hennepin County, and is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
