With a seating capacity of 9,700, fans are never disappointed with view of the 200 x 100 Olympic size ice sheet that makes for a fast-pace, wide open style of hockey that the Golden Gophers are known for. The building does not have one obstructed view seat in the place, which is another reason that Golden Gopher hockey is one of the hottest tickets in town. Portions of the design of Mariucci Arena have been duplicated by many new ice arenas, including the NHL's Minnesota Wild. Minnesota is consistently ranked in the top five in attendance in the country, last year averaging 9,728 clicks on the turnstiles per game.
