Midwest Avian Adoption & Rescue Service

Midwest Avian Adoption & Rescue Services was founded in 1999 as a volunteer public resource promoting the proper care of companion birds and the conservation of wild parrots in their natural habitats. Based in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, the 'no-kill' non-profit organization is funded solely through adoption fees and donations; the group's first goal being the education of both bird owners and the public about proper bird care, making good pet choices, and providing the best possible homes for pets. No less important, the second function of the group is accepting and/or rescuing companion birds such as parrots that have been surrendered, abandoned, neglected, or abused; rescued birds receive health care, behavioral therapy and placement in a new home or a sanctuary. MAARS staff and volunteers all possess extensive experience working with various species of exotic and indigenous birds.
