Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve

Search Savage Minnesota

The glacial ridges and hilly terrain of northeast Scott County make Murphy-Hanrehan one of the most challenging cross-country ski areas in the Twin Cities. The terrain is also popular with horseback riders, mountain bikers, bird watchers and hikers. With the exception of the trails, this 2,400-acre park reserve remains undeveloped. The reserve includes 2 miles of turf hiking trails; 9.7 miles of year-round horse trails with a trailer parking lot available. Use of horseback trails requires an annual Parks Patron permit or daily pass for each rider age 16 or older. Six miles of rugged mountain bike trail are open August to end of October; 3 miles of turf pet trail available, pets must be on leash at all times. Four miles of snowmobile trails (no trailer parking) connect to an outside trail system, and 19.4K challenging, groomed cross-country ski trails are for advanced level skiing and ski-skating.
