In the
Mississippi Bluffs Region, Red Wing is the seat of
Goodhue County southeast of
St Paul on US 61 on the banks of the Mississippi River. Named after a Dakota chief, the town retains some of its architecture from the 1880s.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 15,843, an increase of 709 since 1990.
