City Map with Features
These outstanding 17-acre gardens are the product of years of work and study by Charles and Betty Ann Addison, recently joined by partner Harvey Buchite. Rice Creek Gardens has been growing rare and unusual plants for over 35 years and serving gardeners for 15 years. Many display and trial gardens as well as production fields are open for visitors to the nursery, where you can see and select from over 2,500 different kinds of perennials on site; included are Woodland Gardens, Rock Gardens, Perennial and Grass Gardens, Shrub Rose Display and Rhododendron Terraces. A significant part of the outflow from Rice Creek Gardens is the public and private rock gardens built by Betty Ann and the staff for over 20 years, which include the Rock Garden at Lake Harriet and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Open daily, hours vary; call for details.
