State Capitol

This Italian Renaissance building, designed by Cass Gilbert, brings together sculpture, stenciled ceilings, murals, stone and colors. More than 25 varieties of marble, limestone, sandstone and granite were used in the construction. The marble dome is said to be one of the tallest in the world. Highlights include the Governor's Reception Room and the chambers of the House of Representatives and Senate. Guided tours are offered.
