Bolivar Missouri

Bolivar is located in Polk County, of which it is the county seat, north of Springfield between Halfway and Fairplay along Highway 32 near the Niangua River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 8,248, an increase of 1,403 since 1990.

It was named after Bolivar, TN, which was named for Simn Bolvar, a South American soldier and statesman.

Comments: A group of friends spent time in Bolivar recently. Keep an eye on sudden storms around evening. The cost of housing have jumped since a few years ago. This town IMHO has lots of rude people in stores. In the afternoon traffic is busy. For some real enjoyment, make a point of visiting North Ward Museum. You won't be disappointed.
