Fulton

Fulton is located in Callaway County, of which it is the county seat, 19 miles SE of Columbia along Highway 54 near Graham Cave State Park and the Missouri River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 11,330, an increase of 1,297 since 1990.

It was named after Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat. Winston Churchill delivered his famous "Iron Curtain Speech" here in 1946, warning of Soviet expansion in Eastern Europe.
