Medical Center of Independence is a 186-bed acute care hospital located near the intersection of 291 Highway and 23rd Street. They are a community-based hospital with a staff of 384 physicians and more than 550 full and part-time employees. MCI also serves as a training ground for the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine for the specialties of family practice, podiatry and orthopedics.
This hospital is fully accredited with commendation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) and a member of the Independence Chamber of Commerce.
