The Old Lead Belt district of the Missouri mining region was a leader in this industry for 65 years, producing alone as much as 80 percent of the country's mined lead. The milling complex was donated to the state when St Joe Minerals ceased operations. The 25-acre site includes a museum with restored underground mining equipment and geology exhibits with large displays of mineral specimens. Tours of the museum are available. A short audiovisual program is also offered that depicts underground lead mining and the lead milling process. Located in Park Hills, south side of Hwy 32.
