Sandy Creek Covered Bridge was built in 1872 as part of a
Jefferson County building program after the Civil War. The bridge was destroyed by floodwaters in 1886 and rebuilt the following year. The bridge is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The 206-acre site includes a picnic area and an interpretive kiosk with exhibits about the history of Missouri's covered bridges.
