Soldiers' Memorial Military Museum is dedicated as a memorial for veterans and as a museum for preserving a historic collection of military artifacts. The memorial building is open to the public and has meeting space available for schools, veterans groups and associated organizations. The Memorial participates in events such as the Stand Down Program for homeless veterans, which is held in September, and the annual Veterans' Day observances for which the Memorial provides meeting space and logistical support. In the central breezeway is a granite cenotaph bearing the names of more than a thousand
St Louis soldiers who died in the conflict.
