The Cascade Mountains run through both states, separating them into the dry eastern and wet western sides. The major peaks include Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, and Mount St Helens in Washington, as well as Mount Hood and Mount Bachelor in Oregon.
Crater Lake in Southern Oregon is contained in the crater of the ancient Mount Mazama.
