Search Visit Mississippi

Mississippi's Delta Region offers plentiful entertainment, as well as a rich cultural heritage. Tunica, a busy resort area, boasts 12 casinos like those in Las Vegas. And the golf here is world-class. The region is also known as the birthplace of America's only original music, the blues. Juke joints still offer performances here, and festivals celebrating the area's musical heritage are held in such towns as Greenwood and Greenville. The Delta Blues Museum is located in Clarksdale.

In addition to musical artists, some famous writers have also been inspired by the Delta Region. Tennessee Williams lived here as a child, and many of his locations and characters were modeled accordingly. Silence of the Lambs author, Thomas Harris lived here, and so did The Muppets creator Jim Henson.
