Bannack State Park

Site of Montana's first major gold strike in 1862, Bannack was also Montana's first territorial capital. Bannack is a moment frozen in time. A walking tour of this carefully preserved Ghost Towns includes Sheriff Henry Plummer's gallows, the Hotel Meade, Montana's first jail and the Methodist Church.

To reach the park, travel 26 miles SW of Dillon on Interstate 15, then 20 miles on Highway 278, then a final four miles over gravel road.
