Columbus is the seat of Stillwater County, 42 miles west of Billings between Reedpoint and Park City near Cooney Reservoir Recreation Area.
This full-service community in the foothills of the Beartooths boasts the "most scenic route to Yellowstone National Park" via Hwy 78 and US 212 over Beartooth Pass. Located at the confluence of the Stillwater River and Yellowstone River, Columbus offers the Museum of the Beartooths for an understanding of area history, including artifacts of the Rosebud River Crow Indians, Northern Pacific railroad memorabilia and World War II histroy.
