Gustin Orchard EstateThis secluded one-room log cottage sits under the canopy of tall fir trees at the bottom of a gently sloping nine-acre cherry orchard and along the shores of Flathead Lake. |

The colorful yester-year flower gardens, which pattern the cottage's extensive lawned enclosures, announce its detachment from the flow of time...
...In the early 1900s the log cottage was born into existence from the property's tamarack and white pine trees to be cherished by its founders as their honeymoon home. Later it was offered as the cozy dwelling for the school mistress, but when the one room school house across the way closed its doors and sent its children to the village, the chimney fires ceased to warm its environs. The following long decades of abandonment retired its glow and the rigors of disuse set in upon it...
...Rediscovered in the spring of 1990, the log cottage has been fully restored, combining its turn-of-the-century charm and original fireplace, contemporary but period style kitchen, bath and deck. New French windows have been added to augment the lake views and enhance the cottage's romantic character. Designed for 2, it may sleep 4.
