Search Visit Montana

Lake Koocanusa is an artificial lake created by Libby Dam. Recreation was planned as a major benefit and several interpretive views as well as the dam's visitor center, abundant turnouts, wildlife viewing areas, recreation areas, and campgrounds were constructed. The loop was designated a National Scenic Byway in 1994. Travel the west side of the reservoir to Koocanusa Bridge, the longest and tallest bridge in Montana. Return down the east side to Libby Dam.
