In 1895
Kalispell's first hospital was constructed at the corner of Fourth Avenue East and Center Street by Mrs. Ella R. Webber. In 1905 a larger building was erected on the adjoining property. When the Great Northern Railway relocated its main line through Whitefish, Mrs. Webber's two-story hospital proved to be too large and too costly a facility for the small community of
Kalispell to support, and the building was converted into the Crescent Hotel and later the Fernwell Apartments. Today, the hospital provides people with all their health care needs with modern facilities.
