The Rattlesnake National Recreation Area and Wilderness includes 60,000 acres north of Missoula. There is a well established trail system in the Rattlesnake's lower half, affording opportunities for day trips. You may choose to travel further into the wilderness for overnight camping, which is allowed beyond the 3-mile radius from the Rattlesnake's main trail head. No motorized vehicles or bicycles.
