Winnett is the seat of
Petroleum County, and lies 54 miles east of Lewistown between Teigen and Mosby on US 87 near War Horse National Wildlife Refuge and the Petrolia Reservoir. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 177, a decrease of 11 since 1990.
