Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve is a 1.3 million acre park set aside in 1986 to preserve tropical forests, mangroves, savannas, cenotes, coral reefs, and 25+ Mayan ruins. Fishing has been a year activity for people all around the world. Here visitors can try to catch a bonefish or a barracuda. There are tours by English and Spanish speaking biologists, who will take you by boat to different parts of the park while pointing out plants and animals. For the bird watchers, there are 336 known bird species noted. Visitors can also enjoy snokeling in one of the many lagoons.
