Haw River is located in Alamance County between Burlington and Hillsborough along US Hwy 70 on the banks of the Haw River near Mebane and Graham. Named for the river, which was named for the black haw bushes growing on its banks. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,193, an increase of 279 since 1990.
