Scotland Neck is located in Halifax County northeast of Rocky Mount, between Tarboro and Murfreesboro along US Hwy 258 near the Roanoke River. Each summer the median of the north and south bound lanes of Main Street are blooming with crepe myrtles, a sight that welcomes thousands of visitors to the annual Crepe Myrtle Festival in August. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,453, a decrease of 122 since 1990.
