The historic Suntrise Theatre is situated amidst the magnolias and long-leaf pines on Broad Street in southern Pines, N.C. Having already served the comunity in varioiu capacities, the theater now functions as a cultural center for the commuinity, featuring a steady stream of concerts, plays, movies and other events.
When the movie house closed its doors permanently in the early 1980's, the Arts Council of Moore County and the Sandhills Little Theater rallied enough commmunity support to restore the building and give it a third life as the performing Arts Center.
