The Theatre Alliance opened its first play in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, under the direction of its founder Fred Gorelick, in the fall of 1983. The 'Royal Family' was a modest success, but enough to encourage the charter members to produce 'Crimes of the Heart'. Since then, the Theatre Alliance has never looked back. They are now in their 19th season.
The Theatre Alliance's continuing goal is to offer an alternative to area theatres by presenting a kaleidoscope of contemporary works, area premiers, and revivals of older plays.
