Weatherspoon Art Gallery is fortunate to boast, among its collection of more than 5,000 objects, a selection of prints and bronzes by Henri Matisse. These works were part of a 1950 bequest to Woman's Collection (later UNCG) and the Weatherspoon Art Gallery from the renowned Baltimore collectors, Claribel and Etta Cone. Selections of American sculpture from 1900 to the present, from the Weatherspoon Collection and on loan from contemporary artists, are displayed in an outdoor courtyard adjacent to the museum. Works on view include Elie Nadelman's Spring (c. 1912), Saul Baizerman's Pastoral Symphony No. 2 (1930-50), and Richard Hunts Growing (1985).
