Garrison, established in 1905, is located in west central North Dakota in McLean County overlooking the northern shores of Lake Sakakawea about 40 miles south of Minot.Outdoor lovers have a plethora of recreational opportnities including trips to Ft. Stevenson State Park just south of town and the just south of town and the [audbnwr] on the eastern end of the lake about 15 miles from town. Garrison Golf Club invites golfers to play their 9-hole, 3,100-yard course. After Thanksgiving, the town transforms itself into a Dickinonesque Victorian village featuring shopkeepers in period clothing, street urchins, weekend performances of A Christmas Carol and street vendors selling roasted peanuts, baked potatoes, smoked fish and sausages. April 15 becomes "Bean Day" symbolizing a poor man's meal on tax day. Merchants dress up in their shabbiest attire and fun abounds throughout the day. CODE left
