Lakota City Library, serving an area of 780 residents, has a collection of 13,200 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 320 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 480 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes.
Staffing consists of one employee, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $3,900. Patrons make 3,000 visits annually, and check out materials 11,000 times. Thirty percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
