Fremont is the county seat of Dodge County, northwest of Omaha. It lies at the crossroads of Highways 30 and 77, east of Omaha.

Fremont, Nebraska was named for General John C. Fremont, who had explored the region and was a presidential candidate in 1856 at the time when the city was planted.
