Pawnee City Carnegie Public Library, serving an area of 1,050 residents, has a collection of 12,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 420 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 750 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Staffing consists of one employee, including one fully accredited librarian, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $6,300. Patrons make 1,600 visits annually, and check out materials 13,800 times. Forty-four percent of all check-outs are children's materials.

It is a perfect way to spend a summer evening with family and friends. They have several programs to study and explore such as Speaker's Bureau and Poster and Sonnet Contest. The faculty includes theatre professionals, actors, and educators experienced in performing and teaching Shakespeare. Many of the instructors are veterans of festival productions.
