Tecumseh is located in Johnson County (of which it is the county seat), situated at the junction of US Hwy 136 & Hwy 50, between Beatrice and Auburn. This community is also positioned along the banks of the Big Nemaha River.The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,691, a decrease of 11 since 1990. Tecumseh was officially incorporated in 1856.
