Verdigre is located in Knox County south of the South Dakota boarder along Hwy 14, near the Missouri River.The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 557, a decrease of 50 since 1990. Established by Bohemian settlers in the beautiful Verdigris Valley, and was platted on July 12, 1887 by George Quimby. Today this community has many recreational activities available such as: Ashfall State Historical Site, Niobrara State Park, Gavins Point Dam & Lewis and Clark Lake, Ft. Randall DaFt, Randall Casino ,Ponca State Park, Willow Creek Tomahawk Throwing Demonstration and plenty of Golfing.
