Wisner is located in
Cuming County east of
Norfolk, between Pilger and
Beemer along US Hwy 275 and the Elkhorn River.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,216, a decrease of 37 since 1990.
Settlers were in the vicinity as early as the mid 1850s. Named after S.P. Wisner, a vice president of the railroad company.
Wisner is known as the livestock center of the state. In addition to farming and livestock operations, Wisner offers a variety of recreational and shopping activities.
